During the 15th century people believed that tree spirits were the most powerful of all spirits and were good and wise. They believed that tree spirits would protect them from evils lurking in the forest. So, before they would venture into the woods, they would knock on a tree to awaken the sleeping spirit to protect them. This is where we get the saying 'Knock on Wood' or 'Touch Wood'. My Forest Spirits are naturally occurring faces which I enhance so they can provide benevolent spirit in your home.
These pieces are made from cottonwood bark and are 9-15 inches high. They have a sawtooth hanger on back.
